“Bag lady, you gone hurt your back, draggin’ all them bags like that. I guess nobody ever told you, all you must hold onto, is you, is you, is you. One day, all them bags gone get in your way.” – Erykah Badu
Journal Prompt
What baggage are you carrying around that you need to let go of? What are you holding on to that you need to release?
This ties into out first journal prompt where we wrote about what areas in our life need healing. I encourage you to really explore what you’ve been holding on to. Part of healing means letting go of past hurt. Of course, this is easier said than done.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been holding on to everything that has ever caused me pain. It’s like I’m continuously carrying around bags on my back. They are heavy and I’ve reached a point where I’m exhausted. I’ve reached a point where I understand that I will never truly live the life I want or be at peace if I don’t unpack these bags. Being a bag lady takes a toll on you mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. As your bags begin to pile up, it starts impacting every part of your life.
No one can force you to start your healing journey. You have to reach a point where you’re tired of repeatedly going through the same thing. You have to reach a point where you’re done carrying around all those bags. Remember, you’re only hurting yourself by continuing to hold on. There are various healing tools designed to assist you on your journey but everything you truly need is already within you.
I have been very transparent here on my blog about my daily struggles. I believe that the healing journey is everlasting. There is always work to be done and ways to improve. Each of the journal prompts I offer are prompts I’ve personally meditated and written on. When I say we’re healing together, that’s what I mean.
I love you.
