Breaks. We all need them whether it be from work, school, friends + family, our s/o, or just life in general. I believe that breaks play a vital role in moving through this thing called life.
The other day I went for a walk and decided to visit the neighborhood park. I was sitting at the top of the slide taking pictures of the geese when I did something I haven’t done in a very long time. I slid down and as I neared the bottom I felt myself grinning from ear to ear. After that, I ran to the swings and began swinging as high as I could.
For a moment I experienced peace. I experienced the happiness I lost so many years ago. All my stress faded away and for just a moment nothing else mattered. The few hours I spent there were, in a way, life changing.
I considered my time there an escape from the challenges I am currently facing.
I was living in the present and it dawned on me that some days we need to unplug. It doesn’t matter who you are, at some point you will need to unplug + recharge.
Take it! Take that damn break. Take 30 minutes, 2 hours, or the whole day. It will not hurt you to take some time off and it doesn’t mean you’re not a hard worker. It doesn’t mean you’re not chasing after what you want…it simply means you’re listening to your mind and body. It means you’re taking care of yourself so that you can continue handling your business.
So this is a reminder to all you reading this post:
Unplug + Recharge.
Have a great weekend!
