Journal Entry – 10/8/26
I’m a simple girl; I feel the sun shining down on my skin, and suddenly, I feel alive. Suddenly, life is worth living.
A delicious cup of coffee.
A good hair or makeup day.
Discovering a new tree to hug.
Listening to my favorite songs.
Compliments from beautiful women.
Communing with nature.
Going to sleep without any academic pressure looming over my head.
“I love you” from my mom who’s never been affectionate.
Remembering I love to dance.
Feeling pretty and being able to capture good pictures.
Birdsong.
Good vegan food.
A new journal.
Lying in the grass in the afternoon while reading a book.
Solo dates.
Smelling good.
Random feelings of contentment.
Creating a new herbal blend.
All of these simple pleasures fill me with ineffable joy. They remind me that there is always beauty surrounding me. That there is always light within the darkness — that I am light.
Even on the days when I feel hopeless, I know that it is all temporary.
The sun will shine again.
The trees will meet me where I am.
I’m almost finished with school.
This is my mother’s first time living, too.
Nature always welcomes me.
And there will always be another song for me to dance to.
